024 SUMMER PASTURE
Nebraska Sandhills. Shards of sunlight cleave a vast sandhills pasture dotted with cattle on an early September afternoon. Cattle have been an integral part of the sandhills landscape since the late 19th century. Sandhill ranchers have been fine stewards of the land, and the largely unpopulated region has been left virtually intact as a mixed-grass prairie ecosystem.
