042 MALLARD DRAKE
Platte River Valley, Nebraska. Glowing like a jewel in the late winter sun, a mallard drake pauses on his course along the shoreline of a warm water slough while foraging for food. Mallards are wide ranging birds, and with their green iridescent head, white neck band and rusty breast, are one of the most well known ducks on the continent. To many, they are also one of the most enduring.
