The sun sets over the braided streams that form the Platte River. Located in the western United States, the Platte River is over 300 miles in length and drains a large portion of the central Great Plains in Nebraska and the eastern Rocky Mountains in Colorado and Wyoming. It serves as a tributary to the Missouri River, which in turn is a tributary to the Mississippi River. The Platte River is in the middle of the Central Flyway, a primary North-South Corridor for millions of migratory birds. Platte River State Park, Cass County, Nebraska.
