111 BLUE CREEK
Nebraska Sandhills. The warm glow of the setting sun breaks through heavy clouds painting the Sandhills prairie and Blue Creek in October gold. Blue Creek is one of myriad groundwater fed streams that snake their way through the Sandhills. Fed by heavy groundwater flows and springs, parts of many Sandhill streams stay open year round even in the depths of winter, providing havens for wintering waterfowl, including trumpeter swans, and resident wildlife like coyotes, sharptail grouse and river otters.
